Recent advancements in the diverse roles of polymerase-associated proteins in the replication and pathogenesis of Newcastle disease virus.

Vet Res

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Animal Genetics, Breeding and Reproduction in The Plateau Mountainous Region, Ministry of Education, Guizhou University, Guiyang, 550025, China.

Newcastle disease virus (NDV) is a significant member of the Paramyxoviridae family, known for causing epidemics and substantial economic losses in the poultry industry worldwide. The NDV RNA genome primarily encodes six structural proteins (N, P, M, F, HN, and L) and two non-structural proteins (V and W). Among these, the polymerase-associated proteins (N, P, and L) and the viral RNA (vRNA) genome form the ribonucleoprotein complex, which plays a crucial role in the synthesis and transcription of NDV vRNA.

Recent evidence indicates that endocrine resistance in estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancer is closely correlated with phenotypic characteristics of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Nonetheless, identifying tumor tissues with a mesenchymal phenotype remains challenging in clinical practice. In this study, we validated the correlation between EMT status and resistance to endocrine therapy in ER+ breast cancer from a transcriptomic perspective.

Development of the relationship between visual selective attention and auditory change detection.

Neuroimage

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning, Beijing Normal University, Beijing, 100875, China. Electronic address:

Understanding the developmental trajectories of the auditory and visual systems is crucial to elucidate cognitive maturation and its associated relationships, which are essential for effectively navigating dynamic environments. Our one recent study has shown a positive correlation between the event-related potential (ERP) amplitudes associated with visual selective attention (posterior contralateral N2) and auditory change detection (mismatch negativity) in adults, suggesting an intimate relationship and potential shared mechanism between visual selective attention and auditory change detection. However, the evolution of these processes and their relationship over time remains unclear.

Dectin-2 depletion alleviates osteoclast-induced bone loss in periodontitis via Syk/NOX2/ROS signaling.

Free Radic Biol Med

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Oral & Maxillofacial Reconstruction and Regeneration, Key Laboratory of Oral Biomedicine Ministry of Education, Hubei Key Laboratory of Stomatology, School & Hospital of Stomatology, Wuhan University. Electronic address:

Periodontitis is the sixth most common disease worldwide and is closely associated with various systemic diseases, impacting overall health. It is characterized by the over-differentiation and activity of osteoclasts, leading to increased bone resorption and subsequent bone loss. Current treatments for bone loss are not ideal, highlighting the need for new targeted therapeutic strategies.

Neuronal theta oscillation of hippocampal ensemble and memory function.

Behav Brain Res

January 2025

Department of Neurology, Changzhi People's Hospital, Changzhi, 046000, Shanxi Province, China. Electronic address:

Memory is the ability to acquire and store information following an experience, which can be retrieved by related context exposure. Pioneering studies have demonstrated that sparsely distributed neuronal ensembles or engram cells can serve as neural substrates for storing and recalling memory traces. Many studies of neuronal ensembles have focused on the hippocampus, and increasing evidence has indicated that the neuronal oscillation is closely associated with hippocampal memory functions, including both encoding and retrieval processes.
