Black-capped chickadee (Poecile atricapillus) vocalisations remain plastic throughout their lifespans. Although fledglings employ vocal plasticity to refine their vocalisations through the use of tutor mimicry, adults employ vocal plasticity to create unique population dialects. Vocal convergence is one mechanism by which flockmates' vocalisations become increasingly similar to each other and distinct from the calls of other flocks.

However, due to the inadequate temperature resistance of the optical dielectric film, maintaining a high level of precision in the rigid F-P cavity at elevated temperatures proves to be challenging. Volume Bragg grating (VBG) is a three-dimensional optical element modified by a femtosecond laser within a transparent glass medium to create a periodic refractive index distribution.

Many animals communicate using call and response signals, but the evolutionary origins of this type of communication are largely unknown. In most cricket species, males sing and females walk or fly to calling males. In the tribe Lebinthini, however, males produce calls that trigger a vibrational reply from females, and males use the substrate vibrations to find the responding female.
