Excited-state proton transfer (ESPT) in organic photoacids is a widely studied phenomenon in which D-luciferin is of special mention, considering the fact that apart from its phenolic OH group, the nitrogen atoms at either of the two thiazole moieties could also participate in hydrogen bonding interactions with a proton-donating solvent during ESPT. As a result, several transient species could appear during the ESPT process. We hereby deploy subpicosecond time-resolved fluorescence upconversion (FLUP) and transient absorption (TA) spectroscopic techniques to understand the detailed photophysics of D-luciferin in water as well as in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and ethanol.

Background: Globally, salinity poses a threat to crop productivity by hindering plant growth and development via osmotic stress and ionic cytotoxicity. Plant extracts have lately been employed as exogenous adjuvants to improve endogenous plant defense mechanisms when grown under various environmental stresses, such as salinity. This study investigated the potential of melatonin (Mt; 0, 50, and 100 mM) as an antioxidant and licorice root extract (LRE; 0.

Agro-industrial residues have transitions from being an environmental problem to being a cost-effective source of biopolymers and value-added chemicals. However, the efficient extraction of the desired products from these residues requires pretreatments. Fungal biorefinery is a fascinating approach for the biotransformation of raw materials into multiple products in a single batch.

Consuming food containing ingredients with a documented impact on lipid metabolism can help fight overweight and obesity. The simplest way to reduce the level of fatty acids is to block their synthesis or increase the rate of their degradation. This study aimed to determine the effect of resveratrol, , conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), , CLA, and various variants of their combinations on de novo fatty acid biosynthesis in 3T3-L1 adipocytes.

Breast cancer surgeries offer challenges in perioperative pain management, especially in the presence of inherent risk of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) and postmastectomy pain syndrome (PMPS). Inappropriate opioid consumption was speculated as one of the reasons. Through this study, the influence of objective pain monitoring through a nociception level monitor (NOL) on perioperative course in breast surgeries was investigated.
