Leptospirosis caused by pathogenic is one of the most common zoonoses in the world. It is believed that humans become infected with it mainly through their skin and mucous membranes by contact with water or soil that is contaminated with urine excreted from infected animals. Recently, outbreaks have frequently occurred in the tropics, especially after flooding, but how leptospires cause mass infection remains poorly understood.

Background: Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) and endoscopic ultrasound with an echobronchoscope-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-B-FNA) are useful modalities in the evaluation of mediastinal pathologies in adults. However, sparse data are available in children.
Objective: To describe the utility and safety of EBUS-TBNA and EUS-B-FNA in children with mediastinal pathologies of unknown etiology.

Objective: The diagnostic value of transbronchial/transtracheal fine needle aspiration (TBFNA) cytology in the patients with mediastinal and/or hilar lymphadenopathy has been investigated.
Method: Out of 116 patients with mediastinal/hilar lymphadenopathy, the diagnosis of sarcoidosis was established in 88 (75.9%).

In order to determine the appropriate treatment modality for roentgenographically occult bronchogenic squamous cell carcinoma (ROSCC), it is essential to evaluate the depth of invasion, because ROSCC invading beyond the cartilaginous layer cannot be effectively treated by photodynamic therapy (PDT) due to spread of disease. Transtracheal endoscopic ultrasonography (TUS) was useful for predicting the depth of invasion in some ROSCCs. In order to assess the actual significance of TUS as a diagnostic tool for predicting the depth of carcinoma invasion, we have conducted a prospective trial with 22 lesions of ROSCCs.
