Changes in RAP, AP (max and min), Ht and R.R. induced by daily perfusion with 250 and 500 ml Dextran 40 in a 10% isotonic solution were examined in two groups of patients with peripheral obstructive arteriopathy. Systemic AP showed no appreciable changes, whereas RAP and Ht fell in direct proportion of the dose given. This effect tended to disappear after 96 hr. Administration of this plasma volume extender 4 days per week is recommended.

Liver fibrosis is a persistent damage repair response triggered by various etiological factors, resulting in an excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix (ECM). Activated hepatic stellate cells (HpSCs) are the primary source of ECM proteins. Therefore, specifically targeting HpSCs has become a crucial approach for treating liver fibrosis.

Introduction: T regulatory cells (Tregs) inversely correlate with disease progression in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and fast-progressing ALS patients have been reported to exhibit dysfunctional, as well as reduced, levels of Tregs. This study aimed to evaluate the longitudinal changes in Tregs among ALS patients, considering potential clinical and biological modifiers of their percentages and concentrations. Additionally, we explored whether measures of ALS progression, such as the decline over time in the revised ALS Functional Rating Scale (ALSFRS-r) or forced vital capacity (FVC) correlated Treg levels and whether Treg phenotype varied during the course of ALS.

Elucidation of the vibrational relaxation process of interfacial water is indispensable for understanding energy dissipation at the aqueous interface. In this study, the vibrational relaxation dynamics of the hydrogen-bonded OH (HB OH) stretch vibration was investigated at the air/isotopically diluted water (HOD-DO) interface by time-resolved heterodyne-detected vibrational sum frequency generation (TR-HD-VSFG) spectroscopy. We observed the temporal change of the excited-state band ( = 1 → 2 transition), which enables a reliable determination of the time of interfacial water.

[Pt(NCN)MeCN] (NCN = 1,3-di(2-pyridyl)benzene, MeCN = acetonitrile) forms oligomers in the ground state due to metallophilic interactions, and a Pt-Pt bond is formed with photoexcitation. Ultrafast excited-state dynamics of the [Pt(NCN)MeCN] dimer in acetonitrile is investigated by femtosecond time-resolved absorption (TA) and picosecond emission spectroscopy. The femtosecond TA signals exhibit 60 cm oscillations arising from the Pt-Pt stretching motion in the S dimer.

Introduction: Despite the increasing trend of utilizing robotic techniques in pyeloplasty, little is known about the learning curve for robot-assisted pyeloplasty (RAP) amongst urologists with no prior robotic experience. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate the learning curve of residents in the last year or recently appointed urologists performing RAP using an ex-vivo model.

Methods: A prospective ex-vivo model study was conducted including participants who were either residents in the last year or recently appointed urologists.
