The accurate and reliable quantification of the levels of disease markers in human sweat is of significance for health monitoring through wearable sensing technology, but the sensors performed in real sweat always suffer from biofouling that cause performance degradation or even malfunction. We herein developed a wearable antifouling electrochemical sensor based on a novel multifunctional hydrogel for the detection of targets in sweat. The integration of polyethylene glycol (PEG) into the sulfobetaine methacrylate (SBMA) hydrogel results in a robust network structure characterized by abundant hydrophilic groups on its surface, significantly enhancing the PEG-SBMA hydrogel's antifouling and mechanical properties.

Dietary Reference Intakes of Selenium for Chinese Residents.

J Nutr

January 2025

National Institute for Nutrition and Health, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, NHC Key Laboratory of Public Nutrition and Health, Beijing, 100050, China. Electronic address:

The plasma selenoprotein P (SELENOP) concentration leveling out was thought to represent saturation of the functional selenium body pool and an appropriate supply of selenium to all tissues, indicating that the necessary amount of selenium had been supplied. Based on the selenium intake when SELENOP reaches saturation, the estimated average requirement (EAR) of selenium was set as 50 μg/d, and the recommended nutrient intake (RNI) was 60 μg/d for Chinese general population. According a recent study, "lactating Chinese women with the optimal daily selenium intake" was defined, and the adequate intake (AI) of 0‒6 months old infants was set as 15 μg/d, and 20 μg/d was calculated for 7‒12 months old infants.

The small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) is a clinical disorder resulting from colonization of the small intestine by an excessive number of microorganisms or by unusual microorganisms. When they are methane producers it is called intestinal methanogen overgroth (IMO). Known risk factors are congenital or acquired anatomical alterations, motility alterations, some systemic and autoimmune diseases, those that cause alterations in biliopancreatic secretions, hypochlorhydria and some drugs.

Air pollutants directly and indirectly cause vitamin D deficiency (VDD). In addition, smoking increases oxidative stress and accelerates skin aging, thereby reducing the body's vitamin D concentration. Previous study reported that VDD increases total cholesterol concentration by reducing vitamin D receptor activity.
