Objective: Elevated systolic blood pressure and increased pulse pressure are closely associated with renal damage; however, the exact mechanism remains unclear. Therefore, we investigated the effects of increased pulse pressure on tubulointerstitial fibrosis and renal damage in elderly rats with isolated systolic hypertension (ISH). Additionally, the role of renal tubular epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and its upstream signalling pathways were elucidated.

This study aimed to promote the valorization of lupin seeds by extracting both non-polar and polar fractions to produce a protein-rich flour suitable for food applications. Green extraction methods such as Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SFE) and SFE followed by gas-expanded liquid extraction with ethanol/CO mixtures were employed. SFE yielded lupin oil with extraction yields ranging from 2.

Aim: Bacillus subtilis is usually found in soil, and their biocontrol and plant growth promoting capabilities are being explored more recently than ever. However, knowledge about metabolite production and genome composition of endophytic Bacillus subtilis from seeds is limited. In the present study, Bacillus subtilis EVCu15 strain isolated from the seeds of Vasconcellea cundinamarcensis (mountain papaya) was subjected to whole genome sequencing, and detailed molecular and functional characterization.

Introduction: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by increased skin sensitivity to environmental elements, mediated by CD4 T helper cells (Th2). Interleukin-33 (IL-33) plays a critical role in exacerbating symptoms in inflamed tissues. Conversely, vitamin D has been shown to induce antimicrobial peptides and suppress the inflammatory response.

Chronic stress can result in various conditions, including psychological disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and accelerated brain aging. Gut dysbiosis potentially contributes to stress-related brain disorders in individuals with chronic stress. However, the causal relationship and key factors between gut dysbiosis and brain disorders in chronic stress remain elusive, particularly under non-sterile conditions.
