Alzheimer's disease (AD) is marked by cytoplasmic proteinopathies, primarily involving misfolded Tau protein. Pathogenic Tau species, such as soluble oligomers and fibrils, disrupt RNA metabolism, though the mechanisms are unclear. Recent research indicates that RNA has a crucial role in Tau aggregation.

Purpose: This study was performed to determine if at least one corticosteroid injection (CSI) within 8-weeks prior to Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction (ACL-R) increases the incidence of postoperative infection.
Methods: A large globally federated research database (TriNetX) containing over 200 million patient records was retrospectively queried for patients undergoing ACL-R between October 1st, 2010, and January 1st, 2024 using diagnosis and procedure codes. A cohort of patients receiving CSI up to 8-weeks prior to ACL-R were compared to a cohort of patients who did not receive a CSI prior to ACL-R.

Golden Syrian hamsters are an often-overlooked model in behavioral testing. While previously utilized for research examining circadian rhythms and mammalian reproduction, they are less common than murine models in both infectious disease and behavioral studies. However, coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) quickly pushed hamster modeling to the forefront due to its myriad of advantages over mice in recapitulating human pathology and transmission.
