Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain (NOD)-, leucine-rich repeat (LRR)-, and pyrin domain (PYD)-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) form an inflammasome by assembling with apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a CARD (ASC) and procaspase-1 that plays a pivotal role in various neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson diseases. We designed native peptides derived from the PYDs of NLRP3 and ASC based on their interfacial interaction to inhibit NLRP3 inflammasome formation. Screening revealed that , derived from NLRP3, inhibits inflammasome activation.

Activation of the brain-penetrant beta3-adrenergic receptor (Adrb3) is implicated in the treatment of depressive disorders. Enhancing GABAergic inputs from interneurons onto pyramidal cells of prefrontal cortex (PFC) represents a strategy for antidepressant therapies. Thallium (Tl), recognized for its high toxicity, is subject to stringent international regulations regarding its permissible concentrations at ultra-trace levels. In this study, titanium dioxide (TiO) was integrated with potassium (K)-rich biochar to create TiO/biochar (TiO/BC) composites for synergistic enhancement in ultra-trace Tl(I) removal, focusing on achieving concentration below the rigorous local threshold of 0.1 μg/L for drinking water.

To realize the comprehensive utilization of large amounts of high-ash coal slime and comprehensively understand the excellent performance of nutrient release and lead and cadmium adsorption of high-ash coal slime silicon composite materials, green and safe mild hydrothermal conditions (200 °C) were used to prepare the rich-rich coal slime. Zeolite/tobermorite composites (Z-TOBs) were used in this study. Batch adsorption tests and repeated extraction tests were used to determine whether silicon, potassium, and calcium nutrients of Z-TOBs have sustained release properties and are affected by pH.
