Bovine viral diarrhea (BVD) is a highly infectious disease affecting cattle, leading to significant economic losses in many countries engaged in cattle production. From February 2022 to October 2022, a study was conducted to determine the seroprevalence and associated risk factors of Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV) in the Sebeta subcity area of Sheger city, Ethiopia. The study utilized a semi-structured questionnaire to gather information on herd management practices from dairy farm owners.

Introduction: Altered serum levels of growth hormones, adipokines, and exocrine pancreas enzymes have been individually linked with type 1 diabetes (T1D). We collectively evaluated seven such biomarkers, combined with islet autoantibodies (AAb) and genetic risk score (GRS2), for their utility in predicting AAb/T1D status.

Research Design And Methods: Cross-sectional serum samples (n=154 T1D, n=56 1AAb+, n=77 ≥2AAb+, n=256 AAb-) were assessed for IGF1, IGF2, adiponectin, leptin, amylase, lipase, and trypsinogen (n=543, age range 2.

Objectives: To evaluate the effects of postoperative pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy on fat digestion and absorption in patients following initial total pancreatectomy.

Methods: Data were retrospectively collected from patients who underwent initial total pancreatectomy at our department between 2012 and 2020. Fat digestion, absorption functions, serum nutritional markers, HbA1c levels, and hepatic steatosis before and after the initial total pancreatectomy were evaluated.

Sensitive fluorescence turn-on sensing of hydroxyl radical and glucose based on the oxidative degradation of reductive organic cage.

Talanta

January 2025

College of Chemistry and Materials Science, Hunan Engineering Research Center for Monitoring and Treatment of Heavy Metals Pollution in the Upper Reaches of Xiangjiang River, Hengyang Normal University, Hengyang, 421001, China. Electronic address:

The accurate and sensitive quantification of hydroxyl radical (·OH) and glucose is necessary for disease diagnosis and health guidance, but still challenging owing to the low concentration of ·OH and poor water solubility of fluorescent probes. In addition, fluorescent probes may cause secondary pollution to the environment. Here an organic cage was reported as a sensitive fluorescent probe for ·OH and glucose in aqueous solution without serious secondary pollution.

Low-Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound Delays the Onset of Osteoporosis and Dyslipidemia in Mice With Premature Ovarian Insufficiency.

J Ultrasound Med

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Ultrasound in Medicine and Engineering, College of Biomedical Engineering, Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing, China.

Objectives: The pathogenesis of premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) not only affects the ovarian structure and function but also gives rise to complications such as osteoporosis and dyslipidemia. Although low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) has been proven effective in treating POI, its impact on the associated complications remains unexplored. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the effects of LIPUS irradiation on osteoporosis and dyslipidemia in a mouse model of POI.
