Background: Mycotoxin, a secondary metabolite of fungus, found worldwide and concerning in crops and food, causes multiple acute and chronic toxicities. Its toxic profile includes hepatotoxicity, carcinogenicity, teratogenicity, estrogenicity, immunotoxicity, and neurotoxicity, leading to deleterious impact on human and animal health. Emerging evidence suggests that it adversely affects perinatal health and progeny by its ability to cross placental barriers.

In recent years, the construction industry has faced challenges related to rising material costs, labor shortages and environmental sustainability, resulting in an increased interest in modular construction cores composed of recycled materials, such as XPS, PUR, PLW and GFRP, from waste from the truck body industry. Two resins, PUR and polyester, were used to bond these recycled composites. Physical, chemical and mechanical analyses showed that the panels formed with PUR resin had superior workability due to the higher open time of the resin, 11.

This study investigated the creation of nano-composites using recycled LDPE and added 7.5 wt% nanofillers of Al and Fe in two varying particle sizes to be used as hot-melt adhesives for reversible bonding processes with the use of microwave technology. Reversible bonding relates to circular economy enhancement practices, like repair, refurbishment, replacement, or renovation.

Disaccharide trehalose has been proven in many cases to be particularly effective in preserving the functional and structural integrity of biological macromolecules. In this work, we studied its effect on the electron transfer reactions that occur in the chromatophores of the photosynthetic bacterium . In the presence of a high concentration of trehalose, following the activation of the photochemistry by flashes of light, a slowdown of the electrogenic reactions related to the activity of the photosynthetic reaction center and cytochtome (cyt) complexes is observable.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explores using lytic bacteriophages combined with the antibiotic linezolid to treat methicillin-resistant bacteria, showing a strong synergistic effect against planktonic cells.
  • A checkerboard assay indicated that a specific combination of low doses of both agents completely inhibited bacterial growth, but the order of treatments affected biofilm cells—sequential treatment was less effective while simultaneous treatment was more beneficial.
  • Transcriptomic analysis revealed that the combination altered bacterial metabolism, including energy and virulence factors, emphasizing the need to optimize treatment strategies for maximum effectiveness against infections.
