The effect of various phthalate esters on the lecithin/cholesterol acyltransferase activity in man was studied in vitro. The enzymatic activity was strongly reduced with all phthalates except for the dimethyl phthalate. The inhibition rate depends on the phthalate concentration and also on the carbon number of the alkyl groups of phthalates.

Electronic address:
Activated sludge enriches vast amounts of micropollutants (MPs) when wastewater is treated, posing potential environmental risks. While standard methods typically focus on target analysis of known compounds, the identity, structure, and concentration of transformation products (TPs) of MPs remain less understood. Here, we employed a novel approach that integrates machine learning for the quantification of nontarget TPs with advanced target, suspect, and nontarget screening strategies.

This study determined the concentrations and seasonal variations of phthalate esters (PAEs) in water and sediment samples of the receiving stream within the vicinity of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife dumpsite. The objective of this study was to evaluate the pollution status of the study area by determining the levels of PAEs in water and sediment samples. This assessment aimed to understand the presence and extent of phthalate ester pollution in the study area.

Enhanced microbial remediation represents a promising technique for the removal of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). However, high-efficiency remediation agents remain limited, including microbial resources and remediation materials. In this study, a novel strain of Pseudomonas xizangensis S4 was isolated from plateau lake sediment, exhibiting a fluoranthene degradation rate of 41.

Phthalate esters, frequently used as plasticizers in consumer products, raise concerns because of potential health effects. Using density functional theory (DFT) with BLYP and 6-311++G(d, p) basis sets, their properties, such as dipole moment, polarizability, proton affinity and ionization energy of phthalate esters are obtained. Reaction kinetics and thermodynamics of popular reagent ions like HO, NH, NO and O are computed to know the feasibility of the reactions with such ions.

Introduction: Vigna unguiculata (Cowpea), a legume rich in phytochemicals, has been traditionally used to improve fertility and treat various ailments. This study used in-silico and in-- vivo methods to evaluate the effects of cowpea protein isolate and essential oil on reproductive hormonal and antioxidant indices.
Method: Forty (40) female rats were divided into eight groups (n=5).
