Lynch syndrome is an autosomal dominant disorder predisposing individuals to colorectal and other cancers, primarily caused by variants in mismatch repair genes. This study describes a novel MSH6 variant affecting transcript structure in a Taiwanese family meeting the Amsterdam II criteria for Lynch syndrome. A 67-year-old male presented with jejunal adenocarcinoma and a strong family history of colorectal cancer.

Intestinal perforation due to an ingested foreign body is a serious complication; although it is often misdiagnosed, while treatment gets delayed due to non-specific symptoms. The present case report describes the case of small bowel perforation due to an ingested chicken bone wherein a 35-year-old female patient presented to the emergency department with a complaint of lower abdominal pain for 2 days. Based on history and symptom review, initially, a working diagnosis of a case of the ruptured haemorrhagic cyst was given, while the ultrasonography findings of the abdomen and pelvis, also, pointed towards a similar diagnosis.

An inadequate amino acid (AA) supply in animals under protein-restricted conditions can slow skeletal muscle growth. Protein translation can be activated by short-term leucine (Leu) stimulation; however, whether muscle mass increases under long-term Leu supplementation and how the gut and muscle respond to Leu supplementation are largely unknown. In this study, we investigated if muscle mass increases with long-term Leu supplementation under protein-restricted conditions.
