Although cardiovascular anesthesiologists play a role in the multidisciplinary heart team, they are generally not involved prior to the diagnosis of coronary artery disease. This work was designed to broadly cover the factors influencing decision-making when proceeding with coronary angiography in a patient with suspected coronary artery disease. Parent Artery Occlusion (PAO) is a valid treatment choice in giant internal carotid artery (ICA) aneurysms of the cavernous segment when the preoperative balloon test occlusion (BTO) demonstrates an adequate cross circulation from the contralateral side. A high flow arterial bypass is, however, mandatory if the result suggests otherwise or is indeterminate. We present here a case of a 72-year lady where the BTO results were inconclusive.

Arsenic-contaminated groundwater is widely used in agriculture. To meet the increasing demand for safe water in agriculture, an efficient and cost-effective method for As removal from groundwater is urgently needed. We hypothesized that Fe (oxyhydr)oxide (FeOOH) minerals precipitated in situ from indigenous Fe in groundwater may immobilize As, providing a solution for safely using As-contaminated groundwater in irrigation.

Management of difficult airways in the emergency department is challenging. Herein, we report a case of successful management of severe upper airway obstruction caused by angioedema, where intubation was achieved using a dual-function video laryngoscope and bronchoscope system in the emergency department for a patient with severe upper airway stenosis due to angioedema. A 74-year-old obese man with dyspnea presented to our emergency department.

We report the management of a convexity dural arteriovenous fistula (dAVF) in an uncommon anterior superior sagittal sinus (SSS) location. This was a high-risk Cognard IIa+b dAVF, which is notoriously complex to treat. Endoscopic management alone for complex SSS dAVFs is challenging due to the often bilateral arterial supply to the fistula, as demonstrated in this case.
