Ultrathin Terahertz-Wave Absorber Based on Inorganic Materials for 6G Wireless Communications.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

January 2025

Nippon Denko Co., Ltd., 1-4-16 Yaesu, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 103-8282, Japan.

Terahertz waves are gathering attention as carrier waves for next-generation wireless communications such as sixth-generation wireless communication networks and autonomous driving systems. Electromagnetic-wave absorbers for the terahertz-wave region are necessary to ensure information security and avoid interference issues. Herein we report a high-performance terahertz-wave absorber composed of a composite of metallic λ-TiO and insulating TiO nanocrystals (λ-TiO@TiO).

Cotton is essential for the global textile industry however, climate change, especially extreme temperatures, threatens sustainable cotton production. This research aims to identify breeding strategies to improve heat tolerance and utilize stress-resistant traits in cotton cultivars. This study investigated heat tolerance for 50 cotton genotypes at the seedling stage by examining various traits at three temperatures (32 °C, 45 °C and 48 °C) in a randomized plot experiment.

Levilactobacillus brevis YT108, identified for its ability to metabolize prebiotic xylo-oligosaccharides (XOS), emerges as a candidate for probiotic use in synbiotic food formulations. This study aimed to investigate the metabolic and genomic traits associated with XOS metabolism in YT108 and to assess its probiotic attributes through whole genome sequencing and in vitro assays. Strain YT108 exhibited robust growth kinetics on XOS as the sole carbon source, with a growth profile comparable to that on glucose, achieving a pH reduction to 4.

Construction of Thermal Bridge in Alumina/Polydimethylsiloxane Composites by Selective Location of Erythritol.

Langmuir

January 2025

Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Thermal Management Engineering & Materials, National-Local Joint Engineering Laboratory of Functional Carbon Materials, Shenzhen 518055, China.

Alumina/polymer composites are conventional thermal interface materials widely used for heat dissipation. However, the interfacial thermal resistance (ITR) dominates the thermal conductivity (TC) of these composites, presenting a critical challenge. This study introduces erythritol as an innovative thermal bridge to effectively reduce the ITR by selectively locating it at the interfaces among alumina (AlO) particles.
