Testicular tumors represent the most common solid organ malignancy in young and adult males. Sex cord-stromal tumors are the second-largest group of primary testicular cancers, after germ-cell tumors. Sertoli cell (SC) tumors of the testis are relatively rare, accounting for only a small fraction of testicular tumors.

Background: Despite its demonstrated efficacy in prolonging overall survival (OS) and delaying skeletal-related events in the ALSYMPCA trial, the optimal timing of radium-223 initiation remains unclear. This study investigated factors influencing radium-223 treatment outcomes, including completion rates and survival.

Methods: This retrospective, multi-institutional study included 164 patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) who received radium-223 therapy.

Prostate cancer is a multifactorial disease influenced by various molecular features. Over the past decades, epigenetics, which is the study of changes in gene expression without altering the DNA sequence, has been recognized as a major driver of this disease. In the past 50 years, advancements in technological tools to characterize the epigenome have highlighted crucial roles of epigenetic mechanisms throughout the entire spectrum of prostate cancer, from initiation to progression, including localized disease, metastatic dissemination, castration resistance and neuroendocrine transdifferentiation.

Background: Presentations and outcomes of acute myocardial infarction (MI) differ between women and men, with the worst outcomes being reported in younger women. Mental stress induced ischemia and sympathetic activation have been suggested to play a prominent role in the pathogenesis of MI in younger women, however, the impact of sex hormones on these parameters remains unknown.

Methods: The effect of sex hormones and age on myocardial infarct size and myocardial sympathetic activity (MSA) was assessed in male and female, as well as young (4-6 months) and aged (20-22 months) FVB/N mice (n = 106, 60 gonadectomized and 46 sham-operated animals) who underwent in vivo [C]meta-hydroxyephedrine ([C]mHED) positron emission tomography (PET) and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging 24 h after a 30 min myocardial ischemic injury.

Pomacea canaliculata is a highly successful invasive snail that shapes freshwater communities in both native and invaded habitats. We studied its digenean parasites from three freshwater bodies in its native distribution area in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. An integrated approach was used to determine and describe the larval stages of digenean, including morphological, molecular, and histopathology analyses.
