MRI-Based Multifunctional Nanoliposomes for Enhanced HCC Therapy and Diagnosis.

Mol Pharm

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Natural Medicines of the Changbai Mountain, Ministry of Education, College of Pharmacy, Yanbian University, Yanji 133002, China.

The morbidity and mortality rates of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are high and continue to increase. The antitumor effects of single therapies are limited because of tumor heterogeneity and drug resistance, and the lack of real-time monitoring of tumor progression during the treatment process leads to poor therapeutic outcomes. Therefore, novel nanodelivery platforms combining tumor therapy and diagnosis have garnered extensive attention.

A novel technique of cryodenervation for murine vagus nerve: implications for acute lung inflammation.

Respir Res

January 2025

Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Shanghai East Hospital, School of Medicine, Tongji University, Shanghai, 200092, China.

Background: Neuroimmune interaction is an underestimated mechanism for lung diseases, and cryoablation is a competitive advantageous technique than other non-pharmacologic interventions for peripheral nerve innervating the lung. However, a lack of cryodenervation model in laboratory rodents leads to the obscure mechanisms for techniques used in clinic.

Method: Herein, we developed a novel practical method for mouse peripheral nerve cryoablation, named visualized and simple cryodenervation (VSCD).

Gambogic acid, a caged xanthone compound derived from Garcinia, has been proven to be an important substance basis for the pharmacological effects of the plant. In recent years, it has received continuous attention due to its broad and significant pharmacological activities. Modern pharmacological investigations have demonstrated that gambogic acid endows various therapeutic effects such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-tumor activities, as well as benefits in retinopathy, organ protection, anti-microbial infection, bone protection, and neuropathic pain relief.

Trazodone, dibenzoylmethane and tauroursodeoxycholic acid do not prevent motor dysfunction and neurodegeneration in Marinesco-Sjögren syndrome mice.

PLoS One

Department of Neuroscience, Laboratory of Prion Neurobiology, Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche Mario Negri IRCCS, Milan, Italy.

There is no cure for Marinesco-Sjögren syndrome (MSS), a genetic multisystem disease linked to loss-of-function mutations in the SIL1 gene, encoding a BiP co-chaperone. Previously, we showed that the PERK kinase inhibitor GSK2606414 delays cerebellar Purkinje cell (PC) degeneration and the onset of ataxia in the woozy mouse model of MSS. However, GSK2606414 is toxic to the pancreas and does not completely rescue the woozy phenotype.

The heart employs a specialized ribosome in its muscle cells to translate genetic information into proteins, a fundamental adaptation with an elusive physiological role. Its significance is underscored by the discovery of neonatal patients suffering from often fatal heart failure caused by rare compound heterozygous variants in RPL3L, a muscle-specific ribosomal protein that replaces the ubiquitous RPL3 in cardiac ribosomes. -linked heart failure represents the only known human disease arising from mutations in tissue-specific ribosomes, yet the underlying pathogenetic mechanisms remain poorly understood despite an increasing number of reported cases.
