An effect of low temperature (0-2 degrees C) on meiosis was studied in different varieties from various ecological zones. It is shown that the Mexican varieties are most sensitive to the effect of low temperature. The percentage of sterile pollen and disturbances in anaphase I in them are the highest. The local varieties with respect to these characters are more resistant to the effect of low temperature.

The design of solid-state materials requests a thorough understanding of the structural preferences among plausible structure models. Since the bond energy contributes to the formation energy of a given structure model, it also is decisive to determine the nature of chemical bonding for a given material. In this context, we were motivated to explore the correlation between chemical bonding and structural distortions within the low-dimensional tellurium fragments in TbCuTe.

Background: Exposure to cold environments is linked to cold-induced hypertension due to activated sympathetic nerve activity (SNA) and arterial baroreceptor reflex dysfunction. However, direct measurement of SNA during cold-induced hypertension and changes in baroreflex control of SNA remain unexplored.
Methods: Chronically instrumented rats were exposed to cold temperatures (10 °C) over 4 days after a control period (24 °C), and renal and lumbar sympathetic nerve activities were simultaneously measured during cold-induced hypertension.

Objective: To determine the feasibility, efficacy, and safety of cold stored compared to room temperature platelet transfusion in patients with traumatic brain injury.
Summary Background Data: Data demonstrating the safety and efficacy of cold stored platelet transfusion are lacking following traumatic brain injury.
Methods: A phase 2, randomized, open label, clinical trial was performed at a single U.

High-temperature reduction of TiO causes the gradual formation of structural defects, leading to oxygen vacancy planar defects and giving rise to Magnéli phases, which are substoichiometric titanium oxides that follow the formula Ti O, with 4 ≤ ≤ 9. A high concentration of defects provides several possible configurations for Ti and Ti within the crystal, with the variation in charge ordered states changing the electronic structure of the material. The changes in crystal and electronic structures of Magnéli phases introduce unique properties absent in TiO, facilitating their diverse applications.
