Patients with diabetic retinopathy were studied for parameters characterizing cell-bound and humoral immunity. Revealed in the course of our study was T-cell immune insufficiency affecting processes of proliferation of T-lymphocytes and warranting adoption of immune correction therapy. Administration of immune correctors was individualized judging from sensitivity of T-lymphocytes to the drugs being employed (splenin, thymalin, erbisol, and thymogen).

A possibility to correct the immunodeficiency state, caused by herbicide 2.4-D (20 mg/kg of weight daily during 5 days), by using immunomodulators Levamisole (perorally), Tactivinum (hypodermically) and Spleninum (hepodermically) in reactions Graft-versus-Host (GH), Antibody-Forming Cells (AFG) and phagocytic activity of peritoneal macrophages in vivo and in vitro etc, was studied in experiments with 360 mice of lines CBA and F1 (CBAxC57B1/6) weighing 18 to 22 g. It was established that Levamisole (2.

An influence of splenin and its non-peptide factor of splenin (NFS) on the state of cytochrome P-450 dependent monooxygenase system (MOS) of liver microsomes in healthy animals under immunodeficiency (splenectomy, administration of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and toxic hepatosohepatitis was studied. The stimulating action of splenin and NFS on cytochrome P-450 content and MOS activity of liver microsomes in healthy animals has been established. The indices studied markedly decreased after splenectomy.

Splenopentin (SP-5, Arg-Lys-Glu-Val-Tyr) and thymopentin (TP-5, Arg-Lys-Asp-Val-Tyr) are synthetic immunomodulating peptides corresponding to the region 32-34 of a splenic product called splenin (SP) and the thymic hormone thymopoietin (TP), respectively. TP was originally isolated as a 5-kDa (49-amino acids) protein from bovine thymus while studying effects of the thymic extracts on neuromuscular transmission and was subsequently observed to affect T cell differentiation and function. TP I and II are two closely related polypeptides isolated from bovine thymus.

An animal model for the study of the influence of immunomodulators on the development and preservation of postvaccinal antidiphtheria immunity was experimentally selected and the corresponding study was carried out. In this work the following immunomodulators were used: dibasol, prodigiosan, splenin, thymalin, reaferon, tactivin, methyluracyl. The study revealed that by day 120 of observation all immunomodulators stimulated the production of antibodies in higher titers than adsorbed DPT vaccine, introduced without immunomodulators.
