Background: This study qualitatively investigates retirement-age adults' perspectives on engaging in health behaviors such as physical activity or a healthy diet, distinguishing facilitators, barriers, goals, and motivations (the two later in line with Self-Determination Theory).

Methods: Two clinical psychologists conducted four focus groups with Spanish adults around retirement age. We conducted inductive and deductive content analysis.

The ecology of watersheds plays an important role in regulating regional climate and human activities. The sediment-soil system in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River Basin (Henan section) was explored. The spatial distribution characteristics of heavy metals (HMs) showed that tributaries, which are affected by anthropogenic activities, contain higher concentrations of HMs than the main channel.

There is a small, but growing, evidence base on obtaining the patient's perspective on frailty, which can help guide future research and clinical management strategies. This mini-review provides a brief summary of some qualitative studies on the patient's perspective on frailty with a focus on the study design and emerging findings to date. We reviewed seven studies in total, examining how they approached the research question and their main findings.

Retention mechanism in slalom chromatography: Perspectives on the characterization of large DNA and RNA biopolymers in cell and gene therapy.

J Chromatogr A

January 2025

Waters Corporation, Instrument/Core Research/Fundamental, Milford, MA, 01757, USA. Electronic address:

Significant progress has been made in the last two decades in producing small (<2μm), high-purity, and low-adsorption particles, columns and system hardware, for ultra-high pressure liquid chromatography (UHPLC). Simultaneously, the recent rapid expansion of cell and gene therapies for treating diseases necessitates novel analytical technologies for analyzing large (>2 kbp) plasmid double-stranded (ds) DNA (which encodes for the in vitro transcription (IVT) of single-stranded (ss) mRNA therapeutics) and dsRNAs (related to IVT production impurities) biopolymers. In this context, slalom chromatography (SC), a retention mode co-discovered in 1988, is being revitalized using the most advanced column technologies for improved determination of the critical quality attributes (CQAs) of such new therapeutics.

Human infants may exhibit an altercentric bias, where the perspective of others biases their own cognition. This bias may serve a crucial learning function in early ontogeny. This work tested the two main predictions of an altercentric bias in 14-month-old infants: (i) conceptual information should also be encoded altercentrically, and (ii) the other's perspective may completely override infants' own processing.
