While internal hernias are rare in the paediatric population, it should be considered as a cause for an acute abdomen following blunt trauma. Internal hernias represent a surgical emergency that requires prompt recognition due to the high risk of strangulation and ischaemia of affected bowel loops. The case of a transomental hernia (TOH) is described in a young girl.

Abdominal pain is a common presenting symptom among patients visiting the hospital. A wide range of differential diagnoses are associated with this presentation, some of which are more uncommon than others, and require a higher degree of clinical suspicion and radiological excellence to diagnose. Although clinicians rely on physical assessment, examining a patient who is agitated and non-cooperative sometimes limits the physical exam findings, making these diagnoses even more challenging.

Internal hernias are one of the rare causes of intestinal obstruction and usually is the diagnosis of exclusion. Para-duodenal hernias (PDH) are rare congenital disorders that occur due to malrotation of the midgut in the embryonic phase of development. They can be asymptomatic or can present as an incarcerated, strangulated, or even obstructed internal hernia.

Internal hernia following colorectal surgery is an uncommon but serious complication. Most reported cases have involved hernias resulting from mesenteric defects after left-sided colon resection. We herein report a case of laparoscopic repair of an internal hernia at the pelvic floor following low anterior resection.

Background: Recognizing factors that predict non-operative management (NOM) failure for patients with small bowel obstruction (SBO) aids in limiting surgical intervention when needed. This study investigated the predictive factors for NOM failure in SBO patients in a resource-limited setting.
Material And Method: A retrospective study included 165 patients who were diagnosed with SBO and were admitted and managed at Althora General Hospital, IBB, Yemen, from April 2022 to March 2024.
