To survey and characterize intraductal polypoid neoplasms in the intrahepatic large bile ducts of small duct-type intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (small duct-iCCA), a total of 121 cases of small duct-iCCA presenting mass-forming growth were surveyed for intraductal polypoid neoplasms that were compared with mass-forming tumors in individual cases and with intraductal papillary neoplasm of bile duct (IPNB) (20 cases). Polypoid neoplasms were found in intrahepatic bile ducts in 8 (6.6%) of 121 cases of small duct-iCCA.

Motile cilia are evolutionarily conserved organelles. In humans, multiciliated cells (MCCs), assembling several hundred motile cilia on their apical surface, are components of the monolayer epithelia lining lower and upper airways, brain ventricles, and parts of the reproductive tracts, the fallopian tube and uterus in females, and efferent ductules in males. The coordinated beating of cilia generates a force that enables a shift of the tubular fluid, particles, or cells along the surface of the ciliated epithelia.

Here, we show that these IBD hallmarks can be replicated using human Organ Chips lined by IBD patient-derived colon epithelial cells interfaced with matched fibroblasts cultured under flow. Use of heterotypic tissue recombinants revealed that IBD fibroblasts are the primary drivers of multiple IBD symptoms.

There are several types of microvasculature supplying neoplasms: "newly formed blood vessels" (neoangiogenesis), which are a component of the tumor microenvironment (TME) of invasive carcinoma with wound healing-like reaction; and "pre-existing blood vessels", which are used as tumor-supplying vessels by neoplasms (co-option vessels) and are likely to develop in hypervascularized organs. We herein review the microvasculature of neoplasms of biliary tract with reference to pre-existing vessels and vessel co-options. In the hepatobiliary system, intrahepatic large and extrahepatic bile ducts (large bile ducts) and the gallbladder as well as hepatic lobules are highly vascularized regions.

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is the most common hereditary kidney disease and causes significant morbidity, ultimately leading to kidney failure. PKD pathogenesis is characterized by complex and dynamic alterations in multiple cell types during disease progression, hampering a deeper understanding of disease mechanism and the development of therapeutic approaches. Here, we generate a single-nucleus multimodal atlas of an orthologous mouse PKD model at early, mid, and late timepoints, consisting of 125,434 single-nucleus transcriptomic and epigenetic multiomes.
