Moniezia cestode infection of livestock is generally regarded as being of little significance. No pathology associated with Moniezia infection has been reported from cattle. The repeated diagnosis of Moniezia infection in young cattle included in six nematode control grazing studies or examined in two helminth parasite surveys conducted over the past two decades in the south of Germany stimulated analysis of this data to draw conclusions about the epidemiology of bovine Moniezia infection.

Sleep-related bruxism (SRB) is a motor oral behavior characterized by tooth grinding and jaw clenching activity, reported by 8%-12% of the adult general population and 3% of older individuals. The frequency of one of its biomarkers, rhythmic masticatory muscle activity (RMMA), remains elevated across ages. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with the brief and repetitive pause of breathing (apnea) and with transient reduction in oxygen (hypoxia).

This investigation validated iodine binding in combination with lintnerization for studying the structural nature of the amorphous areas in starch granules. Lintners of four iodine vapor-stained and non-stained amylose-containing starches and their waxy counterparts were analyzed by high-performance anion-exchange chromatography (HPAEC). The composition of the lintners was strongly affected by the absence of amylose in barley and potato starch but not in maize and cassava starch.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is marked by the death of neuromelanin-rich dopaminergic and noradrenergic cells in the substantia nigra (SN) and the locus coeruleus (LC), respectively, resulting in motor and cognitive impairments. While SN dopamine dysfunction has clear neurophysiological effects, the association of reduced LC norepinephrine signaling with brain activity in PD remains to be established. We used neuromelanin-sensitive T1-weighted MRI (NPD = 58; NHC = 27) and task-free magnetoencephalography (NPD = 58; NHC = 65) to identify neuropathophysiological factors related to the degeneration of the LC and SN in patients with PD.

Purpose: The few studies that have explored self-harm presentation times at hospital emergency departments (EDs) - an important factor that can determine if a patient receives a mental health assessment - primarily focus on adult samples. This study examined the times of self-harm presentations to EDs, self-harm methods used, mental health assessments, and admission data across different age-groups.
Methods: Using data from the National Self-Harm Registry Ireland over a 13-year timeframe (2007-2019), this study compared times, days, seasons, methods of self-harm, and admission data for children (8-12 years), adolescents (13-17 years), young adults (18-25 years) and adults (> 25 years).
