Jaccoud's arthropathy is a deforming, non-erosive form of arthritis initially described in patients with rheumatic fever. Background: Chronic ulnar extensor tendon dislocation at the metacarpophalangeal joint causes permanent extension deficit and ulnar drift. Several soft tissue procedures have been described for realignment of the extensor tendon in post-traumatic reducible instability or in combination with joint replacement in case of altered metacarpophalangeal joint in inflammatory conditions. However, no studies reported correction of both extension lag and ulnar deviation following isolated surgical treatment of ulnar extensor tendon dislocation at the metacarpophalangeal joint.

Assignment of parentage with molecular markers is most difficult when the true parents have close relatives in the adult population. Here, we present an efficient solution to that problem by extending simple exclusion approaches to parentage analysis with single nucleotide polymorphic markers (SNPs). We augmented the previously published homozygote opposite test (hot), which counts mismatches due to the offspring and candidate parent having different homozygous genotypes, with an additional test.

Objective: The purpose of this case report was to describe the role of physical therapists in a neurosurgical center that was converted into a COVID-19 center for critically ill patients.
Methods (case Description): On March 16, 2020, the state government of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, determined that a neurosurgical center with 44 ICU beds equipped with mechanical ventilators should immediately transfer all patients with neurological conditions to other institutions and prepare for patients who were critically ill with COVID-19. The staff, including physical therapists, were trained to handle patients with COVID-19, many of whom were developing acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) with complex and multifactorial ventilatory support needs.
