Microbe Profile: a model species to study morphology and differentiation in filamentous bacteria.

Microbiology (Reading)

March 2025

Department of Molecular Microbiology, John Innes Centre, Colney Lane, Norwich, NR4 7UH, UK.

bacteria are renowned for their multicellular lifestyle and production of bioactive molecules (natural products) with important applications in medicine, agriculture and industry. Studies of several species have provided a foundational understanding of their biology and metabolism. However, investigating the spatiotemporal processes governing the morphogenesis and development of these remarkable bacteria has been technically challenging due to their complex life cycle.

Radical-polar crossover is a classic concept that bridges one- and two-electron chemistry. It has been widely used in Cr-catalyzed carbonyl addition reactions to clarify the formation of alkyl chromium(III) intermediate and subsequent carbonyl insertion. Herein, we proposed an orthogonal bonding model, the radical buffering scenario, for Cr-catalyzed carbonyl alkylation.

Aim: This study aims to clinically evaluate whether the local administration of vitamin D3 enhances postorthodontic tooth stability over a period of 3 months immediately after debonding.

Materials And Methods: Patients aged 15-30 years with dental malocclusion and moderate crowding in the lower arch (Little's irregularity score of 4-6) were selected and randomly split into the experimental and the control groups. After complete alignment and leveling, vitamin D3 injection was delivered to the experimental group and the control group was given a placebo injection with 0.

Canagliflozin prevents acute kidney Injury in euglycemics rats.

Am J Physiol Renal Physiol

March 2025

Laboratory of Experimental Animal Models (Lema), Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, School of Nursing, University of Sao Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil.

The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of canagliflozin on AKI caused by ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) in non-diabetic rats. Male Wistar rats weighing 250-300g were randomized into four groups: SHAM (rats subjected to sham renal ischemia-reperfusion surgery); CANA (canagliflozin by gavage, 200mg/kg, once, daily, 5 days); I/R: rats subjected to I/R- AKI (bilateral renal hilum clamping, 30 minutes); CANA+I/R: I/R rats that received canagliflozin 5 days prior to I/R. Evaluated parameters: renal function (serum creatinine [CrS], inulin clearance [inCl]; renal hemodynamics (mean arterial pressure [MAP], renal blood flow [RBF], renal vascular resistance [RVR]); redox profile (urinary peroxides, lipid peroxidation, urinary nitrate, renal tissue thiols and nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 [Nrf2] protein expression), western blot for identification of SGLT2 in the kidneys and renal histology.

Safe Administration of Immunosuppression in Japanese Monkeys: Relevance to Preclinical Xenotransplantation Studies.

Cell Transplant

March 2025

Department of Regenerative Medicine and Transplantation, Faculty of Medicine, Fukuoka University, Fukuoka, Japan.

The Japanese monkey has been used in several animal studies; however, its potential as a recipient model for xenotransplantation is unclear. The potential of the Japanese monkey as a recipient for xenotransplantation was assessed using two experimental models. The first model evaluated the optimal dose of tacrolimus without severe adverse events.
