Interleukin-10 (IL-10) is an immunomodulatory molecule that may play an immunosuppressive role in nonmelanoma skin cancer (NMSC), specifically basal cell carcinoma (BCC). We analyzed the role of IL10 promoter variants in genetic determinants of BCC susceptibility and their association with IL10 mRNA and IL-10 serum levels. Three promoter variants (- 1082 A > G, - 819 T > C, and - 592 A > C) were examined in 250 BCC patients and 250 reference group (RG) individuals.

Gliomas are the most common and lethal forms of malignant brain tumors. We attempted to identify the role of the aging-suppressor gene and Klotho protein in the immunopathogenesis of gliomas. We examined genetic variants by PCR-RFLP and measured serum Klotho levels using the ELISA method.

Vaccines are widely regarded as one of the most effective strategies for combating infectious diseases. However, significant challenges remain, such as insufficient antibody levels, limited protection against rapidly evolving variants, and poor immune durability, particularly in subunit vaccines, likely due to their short in vivo exposure. Recent advances in extending the half-life of protein therapeutics have shown promise in improving drug efficacy, yet whether increasing in vivo persistence can enhance the efficacy of subunit vaccines remains underexplored.

Detergents are essential for preserving the structural integrity and functionality of membrane proteins (MPs) outside the biological membrane or in aqueous solution, and thus ensuring accurate biochemical and structural analyses. Here, we introduce peptide-scaffolded detergents, a novel class of hybrid molecules formed by preassembling detergent monomers with peptides of varying lengths, mediated via Click chemistry. These detergents are characterized by scalable, straightforward synthesis and enhanced solubility.

Alkaptonuria (AKU) is a genetically determined disease associated with disorders of tyrosine metabolism. In AKU, the deposition of homogentisic acid polymers contributes to the pathological ossification of cartilage tissue. The controlled use of biomimetics similar to deposits observed in cartilage during AKU potentially may serve the development of new bone regeneration therapy based on the activation of osteoblasts.
