Trace level detection of putrescine and cadaverine in food samples using a novel rhodanine-imidazole dyad and evaluation of its biological properties.

J Hazard Mater

December 2024

Department of Chemistry, School of Advanced Sciences, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore 632014, Tamil Nadu, India. Electronic address:

Biogenic amines are important indicators of food spoilage and quality. Food safety is significantly influenced by biogenic amines such as Putrescine and Cadaverine, produced by microbes during food spoilage. Herein, a colorimetric probe for detecting Putrescine and Cadaverine based on a chemo-dosimeter strategy has been proposed.

Radiotherapy treatment plans have become highly conformal, posing additional constraints on the accuracy of treatment delivery. Here, we explore the use of radiation-sensitive ultrasound contrast agents (superheated phase-change nanodroplets) as dosimetric radiation sensors. In a series of experiments, we irradiated perfluorobutane nanodroplets dispersed in gel phantoms at various temperatures and assessed the radiation-induced nanodroplet vaporization events using offline or online ultrasound imaging.

Background: Applying ultra-high dose rates to radiation therapy, otherwise known as FLASH, has been shown to be just as effective while sparing more normal tissue compared to conventional radiation therapy. However, there is a need for a dosimeter that is able to detect such high instantaneous dose, particularly in vivo. To fulfill this need, protoacoustics is introduced, which is an in vivo range verification method with submillimeter accuracy.

Thermoluminescent characteristics of UV-irradiated Aluminum nitride (AlN).

Appl Radiat Isot

October 2023

Departamento de Física, Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana-Iztapalapa, Mexico City, Mexico; Universidad Tecnológica de México-UNITEC MÉXICO-Campus Los Reyes, Mexico City, Mexico.

This paper presents results of studying the thermoluminescence (TL) properties of aluminum nitride (AlN) synthesized by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. Previously to study the TL properties, the phosphor was characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), photoluminescence (PL), and electron microscopy (EDS-SEM). TL studies were performed after ultraviolet (UV) irradiation using the whole spectrum of the xenon (Xe) lamp.

Real-time in vivo dose measurement using ruby-based fibre optic dosimetry during internal radiation therapy.

Laser Physics and Photonic Devices Laboratories, UNISA STEM, The University of South Australia, Adelaide, SA, 5095, Australia.

In vivo dosimetry (IVD) in a commonly used liver cancer treatment of selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT) has been done based on the post-treatment image-based dosimetry approach. Real-time IVD is necessary to verify the dose delivery and detect errors during the treatment for better patient outcomes. This study aims to develop a fibre optic dosimeter (FOD) for in vivo real-time dose rate measurement during internal beta radiation therapy, e.
