In vitro models that can faithfully replicate critical aspects of kidney tubule function such as directional drug transport are in high demand in pharmacology and toxicology. Accordingly, development and validation of new models is underway. The objective of this study was to characterize physiologic and transport functions of various sources of human renal proximal tubule epithelial cells (RPTECs).

This review explores the anatomical considerations and technical aspects of thread lifting for the forehead and eyebrow, focusing on the relationships between vascular structures, muscular anatomy, and age-related changes in the forehead-eyebrow complex. It highlights the critical importance of understanding neurovascular pathways, particularly the supratrochlear and supraorbital vessels, as well as the appropriate thread placement techniques necessary for optimal outcomes. The review demonstrates that I-shaped threads, when placed beneath the frontalis muscle, provide a safer and equally effective alternative to traditional U-shaped designs.

Invasive social wasps and hornets pose significant threats to biodiversity, ecosystem services, and animal and human health. This review evaluates recent advances in invasive wasp and hornet management using criteria developed for assessing the feasibility of eradication and control programmes. I emphasise the importance and methods of early detection, citizen science, public involvement, and the role of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, drones, and radio telemetry for nest detection.

Impending global urban population growth is expected to occur with considerable infrastructure expansion. However, our understanding of attendant infrastructure inequalities is limited, highlighting a critical knowledge gap in the sustainable development implications of urbanization. Using satellite data from 2000 to 2019, we examine country-level population-adjusted biases in infrastructure distribution within and between regions of varying urbanization levels and derive four key findings.
