In this work, we address the question of how to enhance signal-agnostic searches by leveraging multiple testing strategies. Specifically, we consider hypothesis tests relying on machine learning, where model selection can introduce a bias towards specific families of new physics signals. Focusing on the New Physics Learning Machine, a methodology to perform a signal-agnostic likelihood-ratio test, we explore a number of approaches to multiple testing, such as combining -values and aggregating test statistics.

Neurons use cell-adhesion molecules (CAMs) to interact with other neurons and the extracellular environment: the combination of CAMs specifies migration patterns, neuronal morphologies, and synaptic connections across diverse neuron types. Yet little is known regarding the intracellular signaling cascade mediating the CAM recognitions at the cell surface across different neuron types. In this study, we investigated the neural developmental role of Afadin , a cytosolic adapter protein that connects multiple CAM families to intracellular F-actin.

Epitaxy, a process to prepare crystalline materials in nanostructures and thin films, is the core technology for preparing high-quality materials as a key enabler of next-generation microelectronics and quantum information system. Progress in epitaxy has been expanding the choice of materials and their heterostructures beyond the combinations limited by materials compatibility. However, the improvement of material quality, physical implementation of materials with unique properties, and integration of incommensurate materials in an architecture have been the challenging issues.

Introduction: Mycetoma is a chronic granulomatous infection, common throughout tropical regions, and is considered a neglected disease that mostly affects impoverished populations. Mycetoma is divided into eumycetoma, caused by fungi, and actinomycetoma, caused by filamentous bacteria. Clinical presentation is distinctive, and making the diagnosis is usually not difficult; however, access to safe and effective treatments is a major challenge.

Comparison of Ceramic Bonding to Cobalt-Chromium, Zirconia and Nickel-Chromium Alloys Fabricated Using of Various Techniques.

J Biomed Mater Res B Appl Biomater

January 2025

Dental Materials Unit, Center for Dental Medicine, Clinic for Masticatory Disorders and Dental Biomaterials, University of Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the characteristics of the ceramic bonding to cobalt-chromium (Co-Cr) alloys fabricated by casting, milling, and additive manufacturing, compared with zirconia and nickel-chromium. One hundred specimens (N = 100), prepared with the dimensions of 25 × 3 × 0.5 mm, were assigned to five groups (n = 20): presintered milled Co-Cr (Group M), additively manufactured Co-Cr (Group SLM), cast Co-Cr (Group C), presintered zirconia (Group Zi), and cast Ni-Cr (Group Ni).
