Eutrophication is one of the most relevant concerns due to the risk to water supply and food security. Nitrogen and phosphorus chemical species concentrations determined the risk and magnitude of eutrophication. These analyses are even more relevant in basins with intensive agriculture due to agrochemical discharges.

Background: Several preoperative pulmonary assessment protocols have been established over the years, but assessments of this magnitude are lacking in the bariatric population. Therefore, the assessment of lung capacity, maximum inspiratory and expiratory pressures, the peak expiratory flow and mobility can be predictors of operative safety and determine the time of hospital discharge.
Objective: To evaluate lung capacity, respiratory muscle strength and level of mobility in the pre, immediate post-operative and hospital discharge of patients undergoing bariatric surgery.

Background: Human milk, especially the mother's own milk (MOM), is highly recommended for preterm babies considering its numerous benefits. Prioritising the use of exclusive MOM in enteral feeding plans is essential for maximising the health and development of preterm babies. This study evaluated the effect of early establishment of full enteral feed (FEF) with exclusive MOM on feeding rate and neonatal nutritional outcomes at discharge among preterm babies.

A neural theory of human lightness computation is described and computer-simulated. The theory proposes that lightness is derived from transient ON and OFF cell responses in the early visual pathways that have different characteristic neural gains and that are generated by fixational eye movements (FEMs) as the eyes transit luminance edges in the image. The ON and OFF responses are combined with corollary discharge signals that encode the eye movement direction to create directionally selective ON and OFF responses.

Sjogren's syndrome is an autoimmune condition characterized by infiltration of exocrine glands but, in rare cases, can have extraglandular involvement with pleural effusion being an exceedingly rare form. Here we present a case of Sjogren's pleuritis resulting in pleural effusion, a rare initial presentation for Sjogren's syndrome. A woman in her 20s presented to the emergency department after a recent hospitalization for pneumonia, pleural effusion, and pulmonary embolism.
