Arsenic trioxide (ATO) is a potent and highly effective chemotherapeutic agent for the treatment of acute promyelocytic leukemia. However, the clinical use of ATO is hampered by different cardiopathologic outcomes, such as arrhythmia and heart failure. Berberine has several beneficial effects because of its antioxidant activity; however, the potential cardioprotective function of this alkaloid against arsenic-induced cardiac toxicity has not been fully investigated.

A zoonotic disease called brucellosis can cause flu-like symptoms and heart inflammation. The bacteria responsible for this disease can also enter the brain, causing a condition called neurobrucellosis that can result in long-term neurological problems. In this study, researchers aimed to determine the changes in the hippocampal cells of rats infected with Brucella.

Objective: Exploring the effect of Optimized New Shengmai powder (, ONSMP) on myocardial fibrosis in heart failure (HF) based on rat sarcoma (RAS)/rapidly accelerated fibrosarcoma (RAF)/mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase (MEK)/extracellular regulated protein kinases (ERK) signaling pathway.
Methods: Randomized 70 Sprague-Dawley rats into sham ( 10) and operation ( 60) groups, then established the HF rat by ligating the left anterior descending branch of the coronary artery. We randomly divided the operation group rats into the model, ONSMP [including low (L), medium (M), and high (H) dose], and enalapril groups.

Liver disease is a serious health concern in today's world, posing a challenge to both healthcare providers and pharmaceutical companies. Most synthetic drugs and chemicals cause liver damage accounting for approximately 10% of acute hepatitis and 50% of acute liver failure. The present study aimed to evaluate the hepato-protective activity of an extract of chicory formulation assisted by silver nanoparticles against carbon tetra chloride (CCl)-induced hepatic damage in rat's liver.

Mitochondrial dysfunction is a recent emerging research scope that proved to be involved in many cardiovascular diseases culminating in chronic heart failure (CHF), which remains one of the primary causes of morbidity and mortality. This study investigated the added cardio-protective effects of exogenous melatonin administration to conventional captopril therapy in isoproterenol (ISO) exposed rats with CHF. Five groups of Wistar rats were recruited; (I): Control group, (II): (ISO group), (III): (ISO + captopril group), (IV): (ISO + melatonin group) and (V): (ISO + melatonin/captopril group).
