Determining the level of consciousness in patients with brain injury-and more fundamentally, establishing what they can experience-is ethically and clinically impactful. Patient behaviors may unreliably reflect their level of consciousness: a subset of unresponsive patients demonstrate covert consciousness by willfully modulating their brain activity to commands through fMRI or EEG. However, current paradigms for assessing covert consciousness remain fundamentally limited because they are insensitive, rely on imperfect assumptions of functional neuroanatomy, and do not reflect the spectrum of conscious experience.

Relationships between parasites, host physiology, and behaviours are complex. Parasites can influence host hormonal microenvironment and behaviour through "sickness behaviours" that generally conserve energy. Background: Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have the potential to make a significant contribution to improving health system goals through the provision of resources, health services and community participation. Therefore, this paper examines the role of NGOs in achieving health system goals, based on the six building blocks of a health system framework, and identifies strategies to enhance NGO involvement in achieving health system goals.

One of the primary challenges faced by small rubbing filament machines is the significant variability in material sizes, particularly in the feeding direction. This variability complicates the processing of locally baled straw with a single device. To address this issue, an adjustable feeding and bale-breaking device was developed and tested to enhance the filamentous performance of baled straw.
