Military personnel often encounter situations that can trigger acute stress, which may affect operational performance. Therefore, it is important to examine stress responses in controlled environments to obtain more insights in performance-influencing effects of acute stress. This study investigated the impact of passive heat exposure combined with virtual combat scenarios on cardiovascular and psychophysiological parameters in a controlled setting.

Mental stress may lead to ovarian dysfunction. Psychological stress disrupts ovarian function, leading to adverse fertilization outcomes, premature ovarian insufficiency and decreased ovarian reserve. Furthermore, psychological stress caused by decreased ovarian function and infertility can exacerbate the mental burden.

Psoriasis is a multifactorial, inflammatory, chronic disease caused by the complex interaction of genetic and environmental factors, including psychosocial distress. This review reasons the importance of the biopsychosocial model and why it should be considered when treating patients with psoriasis. We aimed to provide current evidence for the psychological etiopathogenesis, psychosocial comorbidities, psychosocial assessment, and psychological therapeutic interventions in psoriasis.

Conventional human stress responses are mediated by the sympathetic adrenal medullar (SAM) axis and the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis. The SAM axis mediates the immediate response to stress through norepinephrine and epinephrine while the HPA axis mediates the slow response through corticosteroids, primarily cortisol, to effect systemic changes. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), a psychiatric disorder that develops in a small subset of people exposed to a traumatic event, may dysregulate these systems and result in increased risk of various clinical conditions.
