Biofuels derived from renewable and sustainable lignocellulosic biomass, such as switchgrass, offer a promising means to limit greenhouse gas emissions. However, switchgrass grown under drought conditions contains high levels of chemical compounds that inhibit microbial conversion to biofuels. Fermentation of drought switchgrass hydrolysates by engineered and generates less ethanol than fermentation of hydrolyzed switchgrass from an average rainfall year.

The incorporation of ZIF-67 into hydrogels for wastewater pollutant remediation has been widely studied, but the synthesis often requires organic solvents such as methanol or ethanol, which can result in the generation of toxic liquid waste. In this study, a novel hydrogel (ZIF-67@SL) was synthesized by integrating ZIF-67 into a dual-network system of sodium lignosulfonate (SL) and acrylamide (AM) using an in situ precipitation method in water. The material was characterized by XRD, FTIR, XPS, SEM, TEM, BET, and TGA analyses.

Ammonia electrosynthesis through the lithium-mediated approach has recently reached promising results towards high activity and selectivity in aprotic media, reaching high Faradaic efficiency (FE) values and NH3 production rates. To fasten the comprehension and optimization of the complex lithium-mediated nitrogen reduction system, for the first time a multivariate approach is proposed as a powerful tool to reduce the number of experiments in comparison with the classical one-factor-at-a-time approach. Doehlert design and surface response methodology are employed to optimize the electrolyte composition for a batch autoclaved cell.

Background: Malaria is one of the leading causes of morbidity and/or mortality in tropical Africa. The spread and development of resistance to chemical antimalarial drugs and the relatively high cost of the latter are problems associated with malaria control and are reasons to promote the use of plants to meet healthcare needs to treat malaria. The aim of this study was to evaluate antiplasmodial activities of extracts of (Mah quat), which is traditionally used for the treatment of malaria in the western region of Cameroon.
