Background: Renal dysfunction is significantly associated with poor prognosis in patients with heart failure. However, the prognostic significance of proteinuria as a potential marker of an impaired glomerular filtration barrier in acute heart failure (AHF) remains unclear. We aimed to investigate the prognostic value of urinary protein/creatinine ratio (PCR) in patients with AHF.

Background: Renal tubular injury was a significant pathological change of diabetic kidney disease (DKD), and the amelioration of renal tubular injury through mitochondrial function was an important treatment strategy of DKD. Our previous study had revealed that Jujuboside A (Ju A), the main active substance isolated from Semen Ziziphi Spinosae (SZS), could restore renal function of diabetic mice. However, its protective mechanism against DKD remains unclear.

Renal fibrosis is a common pathological feature of chronic kidney diseases (CKDs), driven by excessive extracellular matrix (ECM) accumulation. Despite its prevalence, therapeutic candidates specifically targeting fibrosis are limited, and the role of renal tubular epithelial cells in fibrosis pathogenesis remains unclear. In this study, we evaluated the anti-fibrotic effects of Plumbagin, a plant-derived natural compound, using a folic acid-induced renal fibrosis model that simulates proximal tubular injury-driven fibrosis.

Plastics are globally considered a significant threat, particularly to metropolitan areas, due to the extensive use of plastic products. This research is the first of its kind to document microplastics contamination and its effects on Red wettled lapwing (Vanellus indicus). The concentration of microplastics (MPs) was measured from surface water at different locations including canals and drains, which are the primary sources of MPs pollution in the metropolitan city Lahore, Pakistan.

Background: Oliguric acute kidney injury (AKI) is one of the critical conditions which needs emergent treatment due to the lack of the capacity of excreting toxins and fluids, and plasma membrane bleb formation is considered as one of the characteristic morphologic alterations in ischemic AKI in both animal models and human. We present here an autopsy case with clear electron microscopy images capturing a definitive instance of blebbing in ischemic AKI.
Case Presentation: A 66-year-old man was admitted for oliguric AKI with nephrotic syndrome (NS).
