DL-Allylglycine causes a marked increase in mouse brain ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) activity. The amount of immunoreactive enzyme protein increases concomitantly with the activity, but the enzyme protein decreases more slowly than that of the activity. The amount of immunoreactive ODC in brain is many hundred times that of the catalytically active enzyme.
