Treatment options for recurrent high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (HR NMIBC) and muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) are limited, highlighting a need for clinically effective, accessible, and better-tolerated alternatives. In this review we examine the clinical development program of TAR-200, a novel targeted releasing system designed to provide sustained intravesical delivery of gemcitabine to address the needs of patients with NMIBC and of those with MIBC. We describe the concept and design of TAR-200 and the clinical development of this gemcitabine intravesical system in the SunRISe portfolio of studies.

Starch phosphorylation - A new perspective: A review.

Int J Biol Macromol

January 2025

Biopolymer Analytics, Institute of Biochemistry and Biology, University of Potsdam, Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 24-25, Building 20, Potsdam, Golm, Germany. Electronic address:

The phosphorylation of the storage carbohydrates, starch and glycogen, is a process that is fundamental to their physicochemical properties and their turnover. Therefore, the interest utilising phosphorylation as a biotechnological tool to customize polysaccharides has risen permanently. Today, the phosphoesterification of both carbohydrate forms is much better understood.

Development of pH and enzyme dual responsive chitosan/polyaspartic acid nanoparticle-embedded nanofibers for fruit preservation.

Int J Biol Macromol

January 2025

Beijing Key Laboratory for Bioengineering and Sensing Technology, Daxing Research Institute, School of Chemistry and Biological Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing 100083, China. Electronic address:

This study focuses on the development and application of tea polyphenol-loaded chitosan/polyaspartic acid nanoparticles (TP@CS/PASP-Nps) embedded within polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) nanofibers to extend the shelf life of fruit. The nanofibers were fabricated using electrospinning, which enhanced the stability and uniform dispersion of the nanoparticles. Experimental results demonstrated that the TP@CS/PASP nanoparticles exhibit significant pH and protease-responsive release of TP, with a cumulative release of 56.

The development of stable biopharmaceutical formulations, such as monoclonal antibodies, poses a great challenge in the pharmaceutical industry. This study investigated the stabilizing effect of 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) in liquid and solid formulations of infliximab during processing and storage. The solid formulation was produced by a scaled-up high-speed electrospinning method, resulting in a product suitable for reconstitution with excellent dissolution properties.
