Background And Objectives: The study aimed to identify key drivers of vaccine hesitancy among healthcare workers (HCWs) employed at Long-term care facilities (LTCF) within selected states. It also sought to determine which interventions, policies, and programs effectively reduced HCW vaccine hesitancy for COVID-19 and influenza.

Research Design And Methods: The study employed a mixed methods approach, combining secondary analysis of the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) data, survey research, and focus groups.

Background: We evaluated UK nurses' preferences for pediatric hexavalent vaccine attributes.

Research Design And Methods: In a discrete-choice experiment study, 150 nurses chose between 2 hypothetical pediatric hexavalent vaccines with varying attribute levels (device type, plastic in packaging, time on the market, and time the vaccine can stay safely at room temperature) in a series of choice questions. Using random-parameters logit-model estimates, conditional relative attribute importance (CRAI) and odds ratios (ORs) were calculated.

Background: The unique characteristics of air pollution in high-altitude regions may significantly influence the transmission and incidence of influenza. However, current research on this phenomenon is limited, and further investigation is urgently needed.

Methods: This study collected influenza outpatient data from Qinghai Province between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2021.

Rethinking Optimal Immunogens to Face SARS-CoV-2 Evolution Through Vaccination.

Influenza Other Respir Viruses

January 2025

Área de Investigación en Vacunas, Fundación para el Fomento de la Investigación Sanitaria y Biomédica de la Comunitat Valenciana, Valencia, Spain.

SARS-CoV-2, which originated in China in late 2019, quickly fueled the global COVID-19 pandemic, profoundly impacting health and the economy worldwide. A series of vaccines, mostly based on the full SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein, were rapidly developed, showing excellent humoral and cellular responses and high efficacy against both symptomatic infection and severe disease. However, viral evolution and the waning humoral neutralizing responses strongly challenged vaccine long term effectiveness, mainly against symptomatic infection, making necessary a strategy of repeated and updated booster shots.

Role of nasal microbiota in regulating host anti-influenza immunity in dogs.

Microbiome

January 2025

Joint International Research Laboratory of Animal Health and Food Safety, College of Veterinary Medicine, Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing, China.

Background: Numerous studies have confirmed a close relationship between the pathogenicity of influenza and respiratory microbiota, but the mechanistic basis for this is poorly defined. Also, the majority of these studies have been conducted on murine models, and it remains unclear how far these findings can be extrapolated from murine models to other animals. Considering that influenza A virus is increasingly recognized as an important canine respiratory pathogen, this study investigated the cross-talk between nasal and lung tissues mediated by microbes and its association with influenza susceptibility in a beagle dog model.
