Human papilloma virus (HPV) infections vary in their oncogenic potential, and whether an infection progresses to cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) also depends on the immune response. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to explore biomarkers related to the immune system and cell proliferation, in combination with HPV classified as having high (HOP) or low oncogenic potential (LOP), that can possibly guide a more accurate identification of women following cervical cancer screening programmes in need for immediate follow-up with a biopsy. A next-generation sequencing transcriptomic immune profile analysis applied to 28 persistent CIN3 lesions and 14 normal biopsies identified four genes, the immune markers and and the tumour markers and , as possible markers for differentiating between CIN3 and normal tissue.

High-risk HPV (hrHPV)-based screening has led to many unnecessary colposcopy referrals, mainly because of direct referral after low-grade cytology (ASC-US/LSIL). DNA methylation and genotyping tests on ASC-US/LSIL samples have the potential to significantly improve the efficiency of screening. In this study, 12 triage strategies were constructed from FAM19A4/miR124-2 or ASCL1/LHX8 methylation, HPV16/18 or HPV16/18/31/33/45 genotyping and 1-year repeat cytology.

The study examines the effective use of AAVI-and-cryotherapy treatment on HPV-diagnosed women. Female patients of the reproductive age (20-49 years) group visiting 2 Namibian healthcare facilities for AAVI and cryotherapy treatment were investigated using a cross-sectional approach.

Despite the availability of several human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines, the incidence of HPV-associated anal cancer is growing at a rate of 2.2% each year. As shown in results from the recent Phase III ANCHOR study, the treatment of high-grade anal lesions in people living with HIV (PLWH) can significantly reduce rates of anal cancer development compared to active surveillance alone.
