Utilization of Chlorella vulgaris methyl ester blend with diethyl ether to mitigate emissions of an unaltered single cylinder ci engine.

Environ Sci Pollut Res Int

January 2025

Engine Testing Laboratory, Department of Automobile Engineering, College of Engineering and Technology, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, 603203, Tamil Nadu, India.

The present work emphasizes the viability of methyl ester production, characterization, and utilization of third-generation biofuel from Chlorella vulgaris microalgae. The presence of methyl oleate (CHO) in the Chlorella vulgaris methyl ester (CVME) algae signifies the existence of higher oxidation stability and prone to peroxidation. The single-stage transesterified CVME algae contains majorly (C-H) functional group trailed by (C = O), (C-O), (O-CH), (C-O-C) with the elemental compositions of 66.

This study examines the biocompatibility, osteogenic potential, and effectiveness of polyether ether ketone (PEEK) composites for treating osteonecrosis, seeking to establish a theoretical basis for clinical application. A range of PEEK composite materials, including sulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK), polydopamine-sulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK-PDA), bone-forming peptide-poly-dopamine-sulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK-PDA-BFP), and vascular endothelial growth factor-poly-dopamine-sulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK-PDA-VEGF), were constructed by concentrated sulfuric acid sulfonation, polydopamine modification and grafting of bioactive factors. The experiments involved adult male New Zealand rabbits aged 24-28 weeks and weighing 2.

Sterols and triterpene alcohols exist in free and esterified forms in edible oils. To date, only few studies have determined the content of free or esterified sterols and triterpene alcohols using gas chromatography-flame ionization detection (GC-FID). In this study, analytical conditions were optimized using free and esterified sterol standards.

The preparation of lignin-based adhesives from sustainable lignin sources has garnered increasing attention from many researchers in recent years. However, developing high-performance and environmentally friendly lignin-based adhesives through a simple and efficient approach remains a significant challenge. In this study, aminated corn stover lignin (ACSL) was prepared by aminating corn stover lignin (CSL) using glutaraldehyde and ethylenediamine.

Updated Mini-Review on Polychlorinated Diphenyl Ethers (PCDEs) in Food: Levels and Dietary Intake.

J Food Prot

January 2025

Universitat Rovira i Virgili Laboratory of Toxicology and Environmental Health, School of Medicine, 43201, Reus, Catalonia, Spain. Electronic address:

Polychlorinated diphenyl ethers (PCDEs) are a class of chlorinated aromatic compounds with structural similarities to polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins/dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs). Due to their physicochemical properties, PCDEs are highly resistant to degradation and tend to accumulate in soils, sediments, and aquatic organisms, making them capable of entering and persisting in the food chain. As with other persistent organic pollutants (POPs), diet represents the primary route of human exposure to PCDEs.
