Background: Community acquired lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) is a leading cause for hospitalization in children and important cause for antibiotic prescription. We aimed to describe the aetiology of LRTI in children and analyse factors associated with bacterial or viral infection.
Methods: Patients aged < 19 years with a diagnosis of LRTI were identified from the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership Common Data Model Database of Seoul National University Bundang Hospital from January 2005-July 2019, and their clinical characteristics were obtained from the electronic medical records and retrospectively reviewed.

The efficacy of statins as anti-cancer drugs has been demonstrated in several malignancies but has been poorly investigated in hematological malignancies (HM). By studying its effect on oncogenic miRNAs, we investigated the effect of statin therapy on HM patients. The data were used to identify enriched pathways that were altered due to statin treatment.

Background: The authors assessed the feasibility, acceptability, and impact on cancer worry of a cancer screening program using multicancer early detection (MCED) tests and whole-body magnetic resonance imaging (WBM) in individuals at high cancer risk because of family history or germline variants in cancer-susceptibility genes.
Methods: This prospective trial enrolled participants aged 50 years and older who had a significant family history of cancer or a cancer-susceptibility gene variant. Participants underwent noncontrast WBM and MCED testing.

The Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) V617F mutation activates the transcription pathway and has been well-characterized as a driver of myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). Recently, there has been a heightened interest in understanding germline predisposition to hematological malignancies including MPN, including several reports of familial MPN. Here, we retrospectively analyzed medical records and data from genetic testing to describe twelve patients with germline variants at amino acid position 564 of JAK2.

Unlabelled: Diagnosing cancer in general practice is complex, given the non-specific nature of many presenting symptoms and the overlap of potential diagnoses. This trial evaluated the effectiveness of a technology, Future Health Today (FHT), which provides clinical decision support, auditing, and quality improvement monitoring, on the appropriate follow-up of patients at risk of undiagnosed cancer.
Methods: Pragmatic, cluster randomised trial in Australian general practice.
