AI Article Synopsis

  • The study explored how a stronger signal system (like sounds) negatively impacts a weaker one (like verbal cues) in children's motor responses to stimuli.
  • It focused on children aged 4-5 and 6-7 years, looking at their conditioned reflexes.
  • Findings indicated that negative influences were more pronounced in younger children affecting verbal cues, while older children showed this effect in the opposite direction.

Article Abstract

Negative induction influences of one (prevailing) signal system on another (functionally weaker) were studied on the model of effector vegetative-somatic components of motor conditioned reflexes to direct (sound) and verbal ("a whistle is blowing") stimuli in the children of different age (4-5 and 6-7 years) after the activation of the first or second signal systems. It was found, that one of the informative cues of intersystem negative induction is the impairment of functional interconnections in the complex of vegetative components, providing for the adaptive activity of the organism. Negative induction influences of the first signal system on the second were found in younger children (4-5 years old) and that of the second signal system on the first one -- in the senior group (6-7 years).

Background: The use of intravenous tranexamic acid (TXA), an antifibrinolytic agent, has been shown to effectively reduce total blood loss and transfusion rates in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The aim of this paper is to evaluate the implementation lag and clinical uptake of the use of TXA for primary TKA after publication of two landmark studies. Additionally, it assessed the efficacy of TXA use in TKA in reducing post-operative blood transfusions and hospital length of stay (LOS).

Infertility has emerged as a significant global health concern. Assisted reproductive technology (ART) assists numerous infertile couples in conceiving, yet some experience repeated, unsuccessful cycles. This study aims to identify the pivotal clinical factors influencing the success of fresh embryo transfer of in vitro fertilization (IVF).

Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV; Orthotospovirus tomatomaculae) is one of the major horticultural threats due to its worldwide distribution and broad host range. In Italy, TSWV is widely spread in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) crops and causes severe yield losses. In the last decades, several tomato varieties carrying the Sw-5b gene for resistance to TSWV have been released.

Objective: To delineate, within the framework of current clinical practice and criteria, the sustainability of first-line immuno-suppressive treatment discontinuation in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and the impact of residual disease in remission on long-term drug-free (DF) outcomes.

Methods: RA patients, referring to the Pavia early arthritis clinic (EAC) between 2009 and 2021 and achieving remission after Disease Activity Score-driven methotrexate (MTX) monotherapy, were recruited. Eligible patients underwent DF follow-up at 3-month intervals over 5 years after MTX discontinuation.
