Moisture-driven carbonation kinetics for ultrafast CO mineralization.

Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A

January 2025

Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong 999077, China.

CO mineralization, a process where CO reacts with minerals to form stable carbonates, presents a sustainable approach for CO sequestration and mitigation of global warming. While the crucial role of water in regulating CO mineralization efficiency is widely acknowledged, a comprehensive understanding of the underlying mechanisms remains elusive. This study employs a combined experimental and atomistic simulation approach to elucidate the intricate mechanisms governing moisture-driven carbonation kinetics of calcium-bearing minerals.

The Helicobacter pylori flagellar motor contains several accessory structures that are not found in the archetypal Escherichia coli and Salmonella enterica motors. H. pylori hp0838 encodes a previously uncharacterized lipoprotein and is in an operon with flgP, which encodes a motor accessory protein.

Micro/nanoscale 3D bioelectrodes gain increasing interest for electrophysiological recording of electroactive cells. Although 3D printing has shown promise to flexibly fabricate 3D bioelectronics compared with conventional microfabrication, relatively-low resolution limits the printed bioelectrode for high-quality signal monitoring. Here, a novel multi-material electrohydrodynamic printing (EHDP) strategy is proposed to fabricate bioelectronics with sub-microscale 3D gold pillars for in vitro electrophysiological recordings.

Adaptive immune cells antagonize ILC2 homeostasis via SLAMF3 and SLAMF5.

Sci Adv

January 2025

Department of Allergy, the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University and Institute of Clinical Immunology, Anhui Medical University, Hefei 230032, China.

Type 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) mainly reside in tissues with few lymphoid cells. How their tissue residency is regulated remains poorly understood. This study explores the inhibitory role of SLAM-family receptors (SFRs) on adaptive immune cells in ILC2 maintenance.
