Amidines are a vital class of bioactive compounds and often necessitate multiple components for their synthesis. Therefore, exploring efficient and sustainable methodologies for their synthesis is indispensable. Herein, we disclose an alternative and greener method for synthesizing an unexplored new class of amidines through the photochemical synergistic effect of copper/nitroxyl radical catalysis.

Vascular calcification severely disrupts cardiovascular hemodynamics, leading to high rates of morbidity and mortality. Despite their clinical impact, the development of effective treatments remains limited, underscoring an urgent need for efficient and reliable drug screening methods. Vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) are known to play a central role in driving the calcification process, undergoing an osteogenic transition in response to pathological conditions.

Heat engines transform thermal energy into useful work, operating in a cyclic manner. For centuries, they have played a key role in industrial and technological development. Historically, only gases and liquids have been used as working substances, but the technical advances achieved in recent decades allow for expanding the experimental possibilities and designing engines operating with a single particle.

Electron-induced effects, which are prevalent in adsorption and heterogeneous catalytic reactions, can significantly influence the state and uptake of adsorbates. Here, we demonstrate the in situ doping of electron-deficient boron into the backbone of chitosan-based porous carbon materials. Despite a reduction in specific surface area, the resulting boron-doped porous carbons (NBPCs) exhibit an enhanced CO adsorption performance, with sample NBPC-10 achieving CO adsorption capacities of 7.

Decapod crustaceans regulate molting through steroid molting hormones, ecdysteroids, synthesized by the molting gland (Y-organ, YO). Molt-inhibiting hormone (MIH), a neuropeptide synthesized and secreted by the eyestalk ganglia, negatively regulates YO ecdysteroidogenesis. MIH signaling is mediated by cyclic nucleotide second messengers.
