A single-approximately LD50-dosis of the 3-AP given to white rats following the unilateral ligature of the carotid artery in almost 70 percent of the animals caused hydropic-vacuolic degeneration and cell necrosis in the nucleus ruber. Similar changes were quite infrequent in the mesenphalic nuclei. The regressiv changes can be prevented by nicotinamid. When smaller doses are given they do not occur at all. Electronmicroscopic findings help to explain some aspects of the pathogenesis of these rather selective changes.

Background: Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is one of the main causes of chronic low back pain. The degenerative process is often initiated by an imbalance between catabolic and anabolic pathways. Despite the large socio-economic impact, the initiation and progress of disc degeneration are poorly understood.

Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, Zhangqiu District Hospital, Jinan City, Shandong Province, China.

Myoepithelioma-like tumor of the vulvar region (MELTVR) is a rare mesenchymal tumor that typically arises in the female vulva. Here, we report a case of a 48-year-old woman who presented with a 2-year history of subcutaneous mass in the vulvar region. As the mass rapidly increased in the last 2 months, personal slight swelling pain appeared.

The Formation and Features of Massive Vacuole Induced by Nutrient Deficiency in Human Embryonic Kidney Cells.

Front Biosci (Landmark Ed)

January 2025

Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Binzhou Medical University Hospital, 256603 Binzhou, Shandong, China.

Background: Cellular vacuolization is a commonly observed phenomenon under physiological and pathological conditions. However, the mechanisms underlying vacuole formation remain largely unresolved.

Methods: LysoTracker Deep Red probes and Enhanced Green Fluorescent Protein-tagged light chain 3B (LC3B) plasmids were employed to differentiate the types of massive vacuoles.

Background/objectives: Cold stress is the main environmental factor that affects the growth and development of rice, leading to a decrease in its yield and quality. However, the molecular mechanism of rice's low-temperature resistance remains incompletely understood.

Methods: In this study, we conducted a joint analysis of miRNA and mRNA expression profiles in the cold-resistant material Yongning red rice and the cold-sensitive material B3 using high-throughput sequencing.
