Background: Proper planning of reproductive health needs for HIV-infected adolescents requires a clear understanding of the effects of HIV infection on adolescents' pubertal development.
Objective: To assess the effects of HIV infection on the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian (HPO) axis, ovarian reserve and pubertal development in adolescent girls at a tertiary hospital in Zimbabwe.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional survey of HIV-infected adolescent girls aged 10-19 years, with available CD4 + count results at a tertiary hospital in Zimbabwe.

This narrative review explores the relationship between psychological stress and ovulatory disorders, focusing on the molecular mechanisms involved. Ovulation is regulated by the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian (HPO) axis, and disruptions in this axis can lead to ovulatory dysfunction. Chronic psychological stress affects the HPO axis, resulting in abnormalities in hypothalamus hormone secretion, pituitary hormone release, and ovarian function.

Tributyltin (TBT) and mercury (Hg) are endocrine-disrupting chemicals that individually cause reproductive complications. However, the reproductive consequences of exposure to a mixture of TBT plus Hg are not well known. We hypothesized that exposure to a mixture of TBT plus Hg would alter hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis function.
