Tadalafil analogs are often illegally added to dietary supplements such as herbal beverages, protein powders and tablet foods. Due to the complexity of the matrices, effective extraction of tadalafil analogs is the key to achieve accurate quantification. Therefore, it is of great significance to establish a rapid and effective method for the analytical determination of tadalafil analogs in complex matrices.

Article Synopsis
  • A novel and eco-friendly HPTLC method has been created to measure duloxetine (DLX) and tadalafil (TDL), which is beneficial for treating depression and sexual issues in patients.
  • The method uses a specific stationary phase and mobile phase for effective separation, allowing for precise quantification of both drugs in pure forms and human plasma with very low detection limits.
  • Validation of the method followed international guidelines, and its environmental impact was evaluated using several green chemistry assessment tools, confirming its sustainability and practicality.

In miso, due to the substantial presence of genistein, flazin is often overlapped and masked by genistein in HPLC analysis. Flazin in the miso extracts could be resolved with genistein through medium-pressure liquid chromatography run under a nonacidified methanol-water system and subsequently fractionated by semipreparative HPLC and identified by NMR spectroscopic analysis. As referenced, flazin was detected in all 11 locally marketed miso products, with contents ranging from 3.

As β-carboline (βC) alkaloids, posing potential health risks, are present in a wide variety of foods, determining the exposure degrees of food to these alkaloids from dietary activity is key to ensuring food safety. Here, we developed a rapid and sensitive simultaneous analytical method for six βC alkaloids in food. We optimized the buffered QuEChERS method, which includes a clean-up process through dispersive solid phase extraction, to extract the target compounds from food matrices; then, these compounds were detected via liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.

Background: Since the COVID-19 outbreak in early 2020, researchers and studies are continuing to find drugs and/or vaccines against the disease. As shown before, medicinal plants can be very good sources against viruses because of their secondary compounds which may cure diseases and help in survival of patients. There is a growing trend in the filed patents in this field.
