Background: Adverse pregnancy outcomes, including preterm birth and low birth weight, are major global health challenges, leading to millions of newborn deaths each year. Since 1996, periodontitis and related gum diseases have been proposed as potential contributing factors, but research findings remain mixed. Further research is needed to clarify this link.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the association between dental fluorosis occurrence in children and bone metabolism-related indicators, including bone-specific alkaline phosphatase (BALP), osteocalcin (OC), matrix metalloproteinase (MMP-2, MMP-9, MMP-20), and parathyroid hormone (PTH).
Methods: A total of 189 cases of school-age children who underwent health examinations in our hospital were enrolled, according to the presence or absence of dental fluorosis. They were divided into the fluorosis group (n=97) and fluoride-free group (n=92), and the serum BALP, OC, MMP-2, MMP-9, MMP-20, and PTH levels of the two groups were compared and relevant clinical data were collected.

Objective: To identify factors, particularly neonatal acute kidney injury, associated with an increased risk of developing chronic kidney disease (CKD) within the first 10 years of life in children with a history of prematurity and very low birth weight (VLBW).
Methods: This nested case-control study was conducted on VLBW infants (> 500 g and < 1.500 g) born between 2012 and 2022.

The existing evidence indicating that prenatal exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is associated with a range of adverse outcomes, including alterations in anthropometric indices, underscores the need for further investigation into the underlying mechanisms. This study aims to examine the effects of prenatal PAH exposure on anthropometric indices and telomere length (TL), as well as to explore whether changes in TL can serve as a predictor of alterations in anthropometric measures. The study was conducted in Shenyang, China, with 2460 pregnant women participating between 2022 and 2023.
