The ability for noninvasive visualization of functional changes of a tumor's oxygenation and circulatory system offers new advantages for prognosis and monitoring of the treatment efficacy. The results of breast cancer oxygen state study under chemotherapy action obtained by diffuse optical spectroscopy (DOS) in combination with Doppler ultrasonic imaging are presented. Complex use of optical and ultrasound methods gives complementary information about the size of the tumor node, peculiarities of its vascular bed, rate of its blood flow as well as oxygenation, and provide a picture of the tumor response to treatment.

During recent years, a progressive emerging of tuberculosis occurred, related to the overall increased age of general population, primary and secondary (iatrogenic) immunodeficiencies, the availability of invasive procedures, surgical interventions and intensive care supports, bone marrow and solid organ transplantation, and especially the recent immigration flows of people often coming from areas endemic for tuberculosis, and living with evident social-economical disadvantages, and with a reduced access to health care facilities. Since January 2006, at our reference centre we followed 81 consecutive cases of pulmonary tuberculosis, with 65 of them which remained evaluable for the absence of extrapulmonary complications, and a continuative and effective clinical and therapeutic follow-up. The majority of episodes of evaluable pulmonary tuberculosis (49 cases out of 65: 75,4%) occurred in patients who immigrated from developing countries.

The paper analyses the effect produced by some preoperative treatments on the degree and depth of tumor cell lesion in 5 groups of patients with renal cell carcinoma. Group 1 consisted of 80 patients who had a surgical treatment alone and were studied for natural pathomorphism. Group 2 comprised 250 patients who had preoperative large-fractional radiation therapy in a total dose of 20 Gy.

The study was concerned with the analysis of peculiarities of pathomorphism development in osteogenic sarcoma under different therapeutic modalities. Material was obtained from 229 cases of tumor treated within 1955-1981. Electron microscopic examination of tumor was performed in 20 patients who had had no preoperative treatment and in 3 patients who had received adriamycin intraarterially and distant 60Co teletherapy (total focal dose 36 Gy) prior to surgery.
