Dermal fillers such as hyaluronic acid (HA) have been widely used in recent years as a less surgically invasive cosmetic treatment. Although delayed foreign body granuloma may occur as a rare adverse reaction after the procedure, detailed histological reports are still limited. When occurring on the buccal mucosa of the oral cavity, the histopathology may resemble some lesions of minor salivary gland origin due to the material properties of HA.

Unlabelled: is considered one of the most challenging, drug-resistant, opportunistic pathogens partly due to its ability to synthesize robust biofilms. Biofilm is a mixture of extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) that encapsulates microbial cells, leading to immune evasion, antibiotic resistance, and thus higher risk of infection. In the cystic fibrosis lung environment, undergoes a mucoid transition, defined by overproduction of the exopolysaccharide alginate.

The selection of oleaginous bacteria, potentially applicable to biotechnological approaches, is usually carried out by different expensive and time-consuming techniques. In this study, we used Oil Red O (ORO) as an useful dye for staining of neutral lipids (triacylglycerols and wax esters) on thin-layer chromatography plates. ORO could detect minimal quantities of both compounds (detection limit, 0.

Alginate is a major extra polymeric substance in the biofilm formed by mucoid Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It is the main proven perpetrator of lung infections in patients suffering from cystic fibrosis. Alginate lyases are very important in the treatment of cystic fibrosis.

Altering the interfacial rheology of and with N-acetyl cysteine and cysteamine.

Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, Pittsburgh, PA, United States.

Introduction: Chronic lung infection due to bacterial biofilms is one of the leading causes of mortality in cystic fibrosis (CF) patients. Among many species colonizing the lung airways, and are two virulent pathogens involved in mechanically robust biofilms that are difficult to eradicate using airway clearance techniques like lung lavage. To remove such biological materials, glycoside hydrolase-based compounds are commonly employed for targeting and breaking down the biofilm matrix, and subsequently increasing cell susceptibility to antibiotics.
